Ensures that the materials or products complies with regulatory, customer and EKPI requirements on quality and safety by supervising the day-to-day operations of the Micro Laboratory team. Leads team in achieving the department Key Performance Index (KPI) targets and realize continuous improvement of processes.
◘ General responsibilities:
•Supports superior in managing day-to-day operating expenditures against operating budgets to ensure efficient usage of resources.
•Analyzes statistical data and product specifications to identify product standards and quality expectancy of raw materials/finished products.
•Supervises the microbiological testing of raw materials/finished products according to the prescribed guidelines prior to release.
•Identifies microbiological quality problem areas and provide solutions.
•Develops new or revise existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) according to good laboratory practices (GLP) or good manufacturing practices (GMP), or other regulatory/ customer requirements to improve compliance.
•Interfaces with suppliers to conduct audits, recall analysis, corrective actions and potential new supplier reviews.
◘ Managing daily operations:
•Acts as point person for all inquiries and concerns related to Microbiology and the Microbiology Lab
•Reviews laboratory procedures and product specifications for adequacy and makes
•Prepares/ approves microbiological quality control documents/reports. recommendations for improvements.
•Performs training’s related to Microbiology to increase awareness in the plant
•Initiates cost efficiency initiatives for productivity savings.
•Ensures safety in laboratory operations and other QC activities. •Support Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs and activities in the plant
◘ Support to internal and external customers:
•Collaborates with related departments and communicates to the team relevant updates on new product developments, product improvements & innovation, trial or validation runs, reformulations, rush orders, and trouble shooting/ quality improvement activities.
•Provides technical assistance to production on quality, hygiene, sanitation and other process improvements, as required. Conducts trouble shooting activities as necessary.
•Supports and participates in Group/ Team Activities related to Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, IQA, SGA, Food Defense, and continuous improvement. Participates as auditor, audit guide or auditee during internal or external audits.
•Supervises or supports the investigation and closure of internal and external complaints and/ or returns. Reviews & validates the recommendations, corrective and preventive actions.
•Communicates to Sales and/or other concerned departments on the issues relating to microbiological quality of manufactured products.
•Supports R&D in microbiological testing of products, on keeping quality tests and on statistical analysis of specification data.

◘ Functional skills and knowledge:
•Demonstrate knowledge in microbiological quality control, auditing and measurement techniques.
•Demonstrate knowledge in quality assurance/ control methods, principles and practices, including statistical analysis and sampling techniques.
•Proven skill in conducting studies and investigations, problem analysis, and developing logical and documented recommendations.
•Demonstrate proficiencies in office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
•Demonstrate fluency in local language and ideally in English, both written and spoken.
•Bachelor of Science in Biology/ Microbiology:
•With at least three (3) years supervisory/ team leader experience in a microbiological laboratory from a food/ pharma company (preferably FSSC/ ISO17025 certified)
•Proficient in written and verbal English communication
•Proficient in business correspondence and technical report
•Proficient in basic computer programs (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Outlook, others)
